Domino's Pizza(R) Team Canada to Support CARE Canada in Tsunami Relief Efforts

TORONTO, Feb 08, 2005 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Domino's Pizza, the recognized world leader in pizza delivery, Team Canada announced today its intention to join millions of others around the world in raising money to aid victims of the recent Southeast Asia tsunami.

The fundraising program called, "Domino's Valentine for South Asia," will be held Monday, February 14th (Valentine's Day), at participating Canadian Domino's Pizza stores. Each store is donating $2 from every order placed on that day for tsunami relief efforts. Additionally, the stores will be asking customers if they would like to double Domino's contribution by donating another $2 to the cause.

Monies raised will go to CARE Canada and to the family of Domino's team member Anthony Richard. Richard, a delivery driver in Surrey, British Columbia, lost 72 members of his family in Sri Lanka to the tsunami. Donations will go toward helping the surviving family members in any way possible, whether it is for medical aid, food, or reconstruction.

"The tragic loss of life in South Asia really hit home for us, and the recovery will take years," said Derek Campbell, president of the Canadian Domino's Franchisee Association. "Anthony Richard's family and the other victims of the tsunami need our help in rebuilding their lives. We hope this program is successful in encouraging others to join us in assisting CARE Canada and the Richard family."

To help spread the word about their fundraising campaign, participating Domino's stores plan to top each pizza box with a brief letter explaining the fundraiser. To kick off the program, Canadian franchisees Mike Schlater and Dale Hoose have agreed to match up to the first $20,000 for all funds received during the campaign.
